This page explains, in plain English, what mymandjie.com collects, why, and what you can do about it.

1. Who we are

mymandjie.com (MyMandjie), proudly Namibian. Contact: hello@mymandjie.com.

2. The law

Namibia does not yet have a data protection Act. We respect your constitutional right to privacy (Article 13 of the Namibian Constitution) and follow good international practice.

3. What we collect

• On your own phone. Your saved deals, shopping list, ticked items and town are kept on your own phone (local storage), and so is a short record of the kinds of specials you add, open and skip, which we use only to put the list in an order that suits you. You can clear it under Filters, Your feed. We do not receive your list as a whole, but the usage data below includes each item you add or tick and the town you pick.
• Usage data. Searches you type, screens you open, deals you view, items you add or tick, the shop and town you pick, and which adverts you see or tap. This is linked to a random code that your phone makes and keeps in local storage. The code changes every calendar month, or when you clear the site’s data. It does not include your name, phone number or email.
• Problem reports and beta feedback. The text you type, and which deal a report is about.
• Server logs. IP address and browser type, kept by our host Cloudflare for security.
• Newsletter. Not active yet. We do not collect email addresses at the moment.

4. Other companies involved

• Cloudflare hosts the site and stores its data.
• Google Fonts: your browser downloads the site’s fonts from Google, which sees your IP address.
• Shop links and adverts open the shop’s or advertiser’s own website.

We do not sell personal information.

5. Sharing

We may share totals only (for example “500 people viewed this deal in Windhoek”) with retailers and advertisers, never anything that identifies you.

6. Popular words

Words that several people searched for or added to their shopping lists in the last 30 days are used to rank deals and can be read by anyone from the site’s public data. Please don’t type personal details into the search box or your list.

7. Where data is stored

On servers outside Namibia (Cloudflare and our service providers).

8. How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it to run and improve the site.

9. Device storage and cookies

One cookie (mmbeta) remembers your beta invite code for up to a year. Local storage on your phone keeps your list, saved deals, town, the monthly random code and a few “already seen this tip” settings. There is also one short-lived number in session storage that rotates which advert you see; it is cleared when you close the tab. No third-party advertising cookies.

10. Children

The site is for general shoppers. Alcohol specials are for adults 18 and older only. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.

11. Your choices

Clear your phone’s site data for mymandjie.com to remove everything stored on your phone. (The “Clear all” button on your list only empties the shopping list.) Email hello@mymandjie.com to ask what we hold or to have it deleted.
